FAQ
- Does cropping reduce quality?
- Not in itself. Unlike resizing, no pixels are recalculated — the selected region is carried over as-is. Saving the result as JPG does re-encode it and costs a little, so if you plan to keep editing, stay in PNG.
- What if I drag past the edge?
- Only the part that actually exists in the image is kept. The selection is not nudged back inside, because that would pull in area you never selected. If the region falls entirely outside the image, nothing is converted and you are told why.
- I need exact pixel dimensions.
- The pixel size of the selection is shown below the image as you drag. If precise numbers really matter, though, crop roughly here first and then set the exact dimensions with the resize tool.
