FAQ
- Why only 90° steps?
- An arbitrary angle leaves empty wedges at the four corners, which have to be filled with a background colour or cropped away — and neither is what people expect from "rotate". To straighten a tilted photo, pair this with the crop tool.
- Does rotating reduce quality?
- Rotation in 90° steps only relocates pixels rather than recalculating them, so there is no loss. Saving the result as JPG re-encodes it and costs a little.
- My phone photo appears lying on its side.
- Photos carry an orientation flag (EXIF) that some programs ignore, which is what makes them appear rotated. This tool honours that flag and reads the image exactly as you see it on screen — so rotate relative to what is displayed here.
