FAQ
- Is the transparent background preserved?
- Yes. WebP supports an alpha channel just as PNG does, so cut-out logos and icons keep their transparent regions. Unlike converting to JPG, you never have to choose a fill colour.
- How much smaller than PNG?
- Photo-like images with many colours often drop below half. A simple flat logo, on the other hand, already compresses well as PNG, so the difference can be small. If the result lands close to the original, staying with PNG is perfectly reasonable.
- Can I convert losslessly?
- This tool writes lossy WebP. Pushing quality to 1.00 gets visually indistinguishable in most cases, but it is not truly lossless. For a working master where not a single pixel may change, keep the PNG.
