FAQ

Which documents belong in PNG rather than JPG?
Anything dense with text, tables or thin lines — contracts, transcripts, drawings, technical documents. JPG leaves smearing along letter edges on this kind of image, and because these pages are mostly white, PNG often ends up smaller anyway.
What does "keep transparency" mean here?
TIFF can carry an alpha channel too. With the option on, transparent regions stay transparent; with it off, they are filled with white. Leave it on for a logo or stamp you intend to place over another background.
Is there any quality loss?
None. PNG is lossless, so the TIFF pixels transfer exactly. Only the file size and the range of places it will open change. If the source TIFF was uncompressed, the PNG will be considerably smaller.
